Project Aware Donations - 2019

17/6/2020

Picture
Every certification we process for our students Dive Rutland actively contributes to Project Aware by donating £10, so we THANK all of our students for choosing to dive and train with us.

Its not just about the donation but actively encouraging you to participate in Project Aware Specialities such as Coral Conservation, Project Aware Speciality and Dive Against Debris to name but three.   You can take all of these now as our virtual classroom is great fun, if as per the Dive Against Debris you need to undertake a dive or two, well we run those dives regularly on our Dive Against Debris site.. so no excuses.. take a speciality or two and you will be that one step, or even two towards your  Master Scuba Diver  qualification

Get your name on our achievement board, you know you want to!

Emergency First Aid Course during COV19

14/6/2020

Picture
During this difficult time all First Aid Training on a face to face basis has been stopped in line with all of our professional body recommendations.  However, with a very thorough risk assessment we have been allowed to run First Aid Courses for key workers, if it was required to allow them to continue to work

So, with that in place, all the relevant PPE, we recently ran an Emergency First aid At Work course for a trust in Leicester.

Although not part of the curriculum, we added in a section on PPE, how to put on, take off and dispose off in line with Public Health Guidelines as it has become very apparent in our every day lives that people do not know how to do this properly and are potentially cross contaminating their environment.
If you want a First Aid course of any kind, be that new parents, grandparents, babysitters, those who work with children, schools, local businesses, we can offer you a number of courses including Mental Health Awareness.  Some we can run in a virtual classroom !  All socially distanced in our classroom or in your suitable location

Get in touch to discuss your requirements or have a look at our First Aid Course offering from either us - Dive Rutland or our sister company Rutland First Aid Training

Diving - Dahab

6/6/2020

We have been talking a lot about ghost nets, but what can we really do? There are many fantastic volunteers around the world that take a Dive Against Debris just one step further.

Ghostdiving is an international organisation that safely removes ghost nets. Looking at the organisation, I was happy to see a familiar name on the list. Sameh is in Dahab, Egypt Charlie can never stop talking about diving Dahab. Maybe it’s lockdown, maybe it’s the rain, but sunny Egypt to learn about removing ghost nets, beats Chepstow any day. What about Dahab pulls Charlie back?

Dahab is located in south Sinai and protected from the hustle and bustle of Sharm by the mountains. Dahab translates to gold which is fitting as it certainly has some diving treasures and few hidden gems. It is a diving mecca for all, from open water divers through to advance CCR; it is even a freedivers paradise.

Dahab has one of the world famous dive sites the blue hole, the canyon and many more also great for non divers alike with great restaurant’s little boutique shops and a beautiful lagoon also for those tempted to try new things with yoga windsurfing and kite surfing on offer. With that being said one of the main reasons I return time and time again is a dive centre Scubaseekers.

Scubaseekers has a family feel, headed up by Sameh and Kimberly Sokar. The team run a very professional and well thought out dive centre, catering to everyone needs. Whether you want sidemount, twins and closed circuit rebreathers both at rec and technical levels. Diving adventures to be had with boat trips to Gabr el Bint and the WWII Thistlegorm; a ship wreck found and loved by Jacques Cousteau himself.

Sameh is an avid explorer finding and cataloguing new sites and wrecks in the red sea.  As a TDI/IANTD and GUE instructor he can help you achieve any of your diving dreams. Being on the forefront of ocean conservation, Sameh offers training in ghost diving technics fish surveying reef ecology and you can become a citizen scientist and conduct your own surveys for Reef anywhere.

At Scubaseekers a dive against debris is held every Monday. The cherry on the top is the massive Italian coffe machine in the heart of the dive centre and the best smoothies you can get your hands on with all that sameh and scubaseekers have to offer a house reef ,famous dive sites conservation, well equipped dive centre a great gas room, the one thing they truly excel on is you and you become part of the scubaseekers family I for can't wait to get back home for some great memories once the current situation has ended and I invite you guys to join me?
