![]() Received from a recent student who is now enjoying themselves on holiday and diving in Mexico. Jamie have a great time and see you when you get back and Thank you very much, it was a pleasure. The only decision now, do I eat or share? Our First Instructor Training Course (IDC) started on Friday night (5pm), finishing quite late, followed by a day on confined water and classroom teaching presentations (remember we teach our skills on the move - in the position of divers.. not kneeling - thats not diving!
And practise of teaching confined water in the pool on Saturday evening.. Sunday the IDC continued. whilst the rest of the team managed and ran two very busy sessions - with Saturday's Pool Session and Open Water Dives 1,2, 3 and 4 at Stoney Cove on Sunday.... Thanks to everyone involved with this weekend.... but special thanks to Steve and Janet Prior.. It is so refreshing to meet and work with people that believe in change and instructors are NOT instructors but coaches as well as the pictures taken today during the Dive Rutland IDC by Janet (assume Janet as she not in the pictures). Link to Steve Prior Facebook post about today can be found here So a very busy start to our Instructor Development Course(IDC), with our Course Director Steve Prior, his 'lovely assistant' Janet and our new friends from New Horizons Dive Centre and not forgetting our IDC candidates
Have a great time, everyone.... ![]() Last night at Greetham Valley Golf Club saw the annual Active Rutland Community Sports Awards, a special occasion where Rutland's outstanding athletes, coaches, volunteers, sports clubs, participants and projects within Rutland are recognised for their hard work, commitment and achievements over the past year. There are 17 awards to help recognise the outstanding contribution individuals are making to sport and physical activity in Rutland and Dive Rutland Club was nominated in the Club of the Year category A huge thank you to anyone who took the time to complete the nomination for our Dive club it is much appreciated and was a HUGE surprise, but one that made us all very proud. Representing our club was Rachel Perry, Tracey Roberts, Rick Smith and Bridget Weid all changing wetsuits and drysuits for some more smart attire. Our category award was the last but one of the night and although we did not win, it was a pleasure to be part of such an amazing night and our congratulations go out to anyone who was nominated (not just the winners) as it really shows there are some outstanding people and clubs in our small county of Rutland and as they say anything is possible, it just takes a little time and effort After EFR Refresher day yesterday, today we have completed our First (of many) EFR Instructor courses, mainly as preparation for our IDC (Instructor Development course) candidates but also as part of Dive Rutland future development plans.
A great day, with lots of laughs and two new Emergency First Response Instructors(EFR).. well done to Andy Ritchie and Bridget Weid ![]() 1st Colsterworth Scouts recently joined us for a Try Dive night as part of their scouting activities... a new group, so a team building exercise was also undertaken...with varying results! as seen here |
