BOAT
SPECIALITY

Much of the world’s best scuba diving is accessible only by boat, with their own rules and etiquette. The PADI Boat Diver Specialty course will expand your knowledge and enjoyment of diving from small inflatables to large liveaboards

Picture
Boat Diving makes reaching those more remote dive sites so much easier ..... whether it be a relaxed hard boat, or perhaps a more exhilarating RIB ride, it opens up sites that you would otherwise potentially miss out on.

You may count this Specialty certification toward one of the five required Specialties for the Master Scuba Diver Certification.

Advantages of Boat Diving

  • No More Long Surface Walks;
  • No More Long Surface Swim;
  • Get to more untouched Dive Sites or just those a little further offshore

Whether you have never made a boat dive or you have logged dozens, the PADI Boat Diver Speciality course can benefit almost every diver because different boats in different parts of the world do things differently.  The PADI Boat Diver Speciality course familiarises you with the various ways you stow your equipment, enter and exit the water, use surface lines and more, depending upon the type of boat and location.

What Do I need to Start?

PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organisation)
Minimum age: 10 years old

What Will I Do?

During your PADI Boat Diver Specialty course, you will:-
  • Gain the appropriate knowledge and terminology related to boat diving
  • Learn how to correctly stow your equipment
  • Learn about Boat safety, including how to locate safety equipment - you never know when you might need that extra toilet roll!
  • Learn what you can expect in a boat safety briefing from the boat skipper
  • Cover the relevant Boat diving procedures and general boat etiquette
  • Cover Entry and exits appropriate to the boat you are diving on
  • Have access to a Dive Rutland Instructor throughout the day to guide you in all things Boat diving
  • Over one day complete two boat dives -  planning the dive and diving the plan (the cost of the boat trip is NOT included)

Materials

As part of the course you will be provided with a PADI Boat Speciality Manual for you to complete the relevant Knowledge Reviews, which you will review with your Instructor PRIOR to getting on the boat as part of your Boat Speciality

For the Boat Speciality completed in the UK as part of a Dive Rutland Trip,  you can use your own dive equipment but if you do not have or own, then you will be supplied with the items (for example Drysuit, if holder of Dry Suit Diver Speciality) to fill any gaps in equipment you do not yet own!.
