This course is designed to extend your knowledge and introduce the skills and decompression procedures required in the use of oxygen enriched gases for extended range recreational diving.
The program develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the concept of limited decompression sport diving.

From the very beginning of our first diving course, we are taught that the deeper we go the more air we would breath and the faster we on-gas and the sooner we hit our turn pressure or our no decompression limits. In recreational diving, this means the diving is done.
Extending time, and sometimes depth, in water is probably every diver’s desire, more time to explore the underwater world that we are all drawn to after all 70% of the world is underwater so why not spend more time exploring it and one of the reasons why some divers complete the Enriched Air Speciality

Divers are led to believe they must have superhuman strength and mental agility to participate in a technical diving program. This is NOT the case, by completing the DECO40 course you will be qualified with standard open circuit SCUBA equipment to dive to 40 metres / 132 feet and complete dives with mandatory decompression stop requirements for up to maximum of 10 minutes, whilst breathing Air or Nitrox.
This course forms a bridge between recreational and technical diving covering the core skills from the technical diver training programs and can be completed on a twinset with isolation manifold, sidemount, or a single cylinder with a stage.

So why chose to complete the RAID DECO40 course? Well RAID courses require more in water time than other agencies which aligns with our ethos that you will go home with the tangible skills needed to be a safe technical diver and accomplish your goals in diving.
Practise and application of skills makes you a better diver - well we think so.
Yes there is some theory uplift but you will be taken through it slowly and at your pace as it is important to understand and to be able to correctly apply for the purposes of safer diving.

A perfect program for recreational divers or instructors who want to add gain some experience with decompression, as well as add some redundancy to their skill set, and fall completely in line with the new European EN250 standards.
The program allows the student to either use their ‘stage’ as a bailout during limited decompression dives, or as a gas extender during extended nitrox NDL dives, and allows for O2 content up to 100%.
This program takes a technical approach to equipment configuration, so if you’ve already been diving sidemount or twinset you may expect a little streamlining during the course.

Why Learn with us?
Learning with us is about your success, we look at education over instruction and tailor our programs to suit your needs. When you train with us, you can expect small class sizes, a casual atmosphere and a social environment in order to help you feel comfortable and confident in your learning.
We believe in learning and mastery, which is why both theory and dive skills are conducted to a high standard; it only keeps you safe once you leave the learning environment.
It is not about checking boxes, it is about producing safe divers and ones that we the instructional team would be happy to dive with ourselves after your course with us.

Course Flow
The course includes Knowledge Development
Day one of the water work is spend in the shallows ensuring your skills are up to date, whereas days 2 and 3 are spend at increasing depths conducting simulated and actual decompression dives.
