Mission 2020 is a dive community project to help the ocean. We believe that the scuba diving industry’s collective commitment to effect change from within can preserve and protect our ocean environment. For more information on mission 2020 see here
Dive Rutland joined the Mission 2020 on 13th August 2018 and the first thing we were asked was to produce a 50 word pledge, which after much though and rewording our pledge was made.
Dive Rutland Pledge
Become 100% Project AWARE, with a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle ethos in ALL areas of our operations. We will eliminate consumer single use plastics and favour suppliers with a Green Mission to remove plastic from their manufacturing and supply chain and particularly those who manufacture using Bluesign® standards
Why this page?
We thought we would take the opportunity to put in one place everything we find out, answers to any questions we raise during the process of meeting our pledge as well as putting some background into our pledge

Q: Regulator mouthpieces are regularly changed and replaced as part of Dive Rutland training and servicing process. Can these go in the recycle bin?
A: No, then can not, all hard plastic should go into landfill via the black bin... so we approached Apeks directly and their response is below:-
At the moment we send this type of material out for Bio fuel, a lot of companies struggle with mould waste mainly due to the different types of polymers which is why at the moment our waste stream is Bio Fuel.
If you want to send the mouthpieces back to us then by all means do and we will dispose of them along with our other components.
R: So, we will start a collection box, to allow anyone to put their used Apeks and Aqualung mouthpieces in and send them to Apeks for disposal in line with their environmental policy.
