PADI Twinset Specialty

Picture

Twinset diving is not just for technical divers but if you are considering moving into the technical realm, then this course is for you to..  but just as applicable to recreational divers as they provide you with additional air and longer bottom times.

This course provides you with an introduction to the skills involved in diving on a twinset, including kit configuration and emergency procedures.  It will develop your practical knowledge of twinset diving and is a great way to increase your dive skills.

You may also count this Specialty certification as one of the five required Specialties for the Master Scuba Diver Certification.

What do I need to start?
You need to be qualified at PADI Adventure Diver (or equivalent) or above, have 25 logged dives and be over 15 years old to undertake this course.

What will I do?
There are several advantages to diving with a twinset including more available gas, extra supply for safety and stability underwater.  The Twinset Diver course is designed to familiarise divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, configuration, hazards and benefits of diving with twin scuba cylinders.

During the course you will practice a variety of skills required for twin set diving including:
  • Equipment set-up and configuration;
  • Air shut down drills;
  • Emergency procedures;
  • Basic decompression procedures; and
  • Gas switching.

You will also learn how to calculate your surface air consumption rate in order to estimate your gas supply requirements for a given depth and time.

Once qualified you will be able to plan, organise and conduct safe dives using a twinset.

How long will it take?
The course includes a theory session prior to the dives to tell you everything you need to know for the course.  This will cover the advantages and disadvantages of diving with twinsets, gas management, components of a twinset system and dealing with equipment failure.  Followed by a confined water training dive in a twinset and then two open water dives to practice rigging your twinset,  demonstrate buoyancy and emergency procedure skills.

If you want to try the Twin Sets in the pool just to see if Twin Set diving is for you we offer a Twin Set 'taster' which covers the basic skills and drills for just £35, contact us to arrange.

What will I need?
Your Drysuit, mask, snorkel, fins and computer for the confined and open water sessions.
Course price does not include your entry to open water site.
